The Guildhall as a Wedding Venue

The Chamber at The Guildhall Brecon is a Grade II listed building built in 1624 and redesigned and renovated during the reign of Queen Victoria. It is one of the finest public rooms in Breconshire.
Historic
It is rich in history and tradition and deeply rooted in the town’s cultural heritage. The double door entrance and reception rooms epitomise Victorian elegance and the sweeping staircase offers perfect photographic opportunities.
Availability
Weddings and Civil Partnerships may be held at the Guildhall on any day apart from Bank Holidays. There is an additional charge for weddings held on Saturday and Sunday.
Registrar
Without the presence of the Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar there cannot be a marriage, please contact the Powys Registration Service to ensure the registrar is able to conduct your wedding/civil partnership on your chosen day.
Non religious
Only civil non religious ceremonies are permitted by the Superintendent Registrar. Any music, reading, words or performance which forms part of the ceremony must be secular. The content of the ceremony must be agreed in advance with the Superintendent Registrar.
Accessibility
Disabled Access may be obtained from the Lion Street entrance at the rear of the premises. There is a disabled lift which provides access to a DDA compliant toilet on the first floor. Please inform the Town Clerk as soon as possible if you will require these arrangements to be made.
Cake & Champagne
Wedding cake may be served on the vestibule table which will be covered. Suitable plates may be hired. No other food may be served. You may purchase your own champagne/orange juice.

The full cost must be received twenty one days prior to the wedding. Cheques should be made payable to Brecon Town Council
Unless previously agreed the duration of hire of The Guildhall for a wedding is 2 Hours.
Facilities
There are facilities for chilling up to twenty five bottles of champagne/sparkling wine.
A compact disc system is available for use. The operation of the machine and playing of the music must be privately arranged. A disc of music suitable for civil weddings is available for the occasion.
